Savory Summer Sips

What's not to love about summer? Warm temps, great tans and endless backyard gatherings.  We love adding a fun signature drink to any event but fruity summer cocktails are our top choice! Here are a few of our fav's.

Watermelon Margarita

-Amy's Top Pick

This is one of my favorite summer time cocktails.  Watermelon has long been a favorite food so blended into a cocktail makes perfect sense! Light and refreshing this little ditty will keep you hydrated while relaxing on the patio.

1/2 Watermelon
1 cup crushed ice
1 cup tequila blanco
1/2 cup triple sec or Patron Orange Liqueur
1/4 cup lime juice
1/4 cup sugar (or less, your preference)
Lime slices or strawberries (for garnish)
-Blend Watermelon, ice and liquids in blender, pour in margarita glass, garnish & enjoy!

Tips: refrigerate watermelon prior to blending or all liquids prior to serving. Blended ice will not keep your drink cool very long.

Cutting watermelon became a snap once I found this helpful tip on Pinterest.  Follow the link below to learn how.

Strawberry Lemon White Sangria

-Kelsey's Top Pick
This is one of my favorite drinks to sit by the pool and sip on. It's the perfect mixture of crisp and refreshing without making you feel full. Plus it gives you some fruit to enjoy at the end of cup!

2 lemons (thinly sliced)
1 cup strawberries (sliced in half)
1 750ml bottle of Chardonnay
1/2 cup of light rum
4 cups lemon lime soda
Add lemons and strawberries to pitcher, pour the wine and rum over top, cover and place in refrigerator for 4-5 hours. Remove from refrigerator and add lemon lime soda. Sit back and enjoy!
Tips: No Chardonnay at home? Try using another dry wine such as Pinot Grigio or Riesling.

Blackberry Moscow Mule

-And one more for good measure
Moscow Mules have quickly become the "it" drink and we've tasted why. Here's a fun twist on the traditional mule you'll be sure to enjoy! This recipe is from Cake n Knife blog which is a great source for new ideas for food & drinks!

5 blackberries
1 lime wheel
1 1/2 oz vodka
Ginger beer
Mint (for garnish)
1 copper cup
Fill copper cup halfway full of ice, add blackberries and lime, add 1 1/2 oz vodka. Fill rest of cup with ginger beer. Stir to combine and add mint for garnish.
So dust off the patio furniture, throw on some sunnies, and let's raise a glass & cheers to a great summer!
